How to Create an Autumnal Feeling at Home

Inspiration and creativity are not short when you live surrounded by beautiful peaceful scenarios, okay sometimes the tractors around break the quiet peace although just for seconds so, it’s part of the charm countryside living.

September October November and December are I guess my favorite months. My son’s birthday and mine are during this season too then no surprise although, it has always been my favourite season. Here’s a quick glance at how I created this Autumnal feeling at home this year.

1.Firstly, I like the house to be clean and my husband and I try to do the task; from light ceiling, corner walls, windows, curtains; in this season is when those little creatures start forming their webs in every place possible.

2. Then the second thing I did is to keep away all the summer clothe and bring out the sweaters, turtle jumpers, waistcoats, hats, gloves, warm socks, anything that will be warm for the chill season ahead.

3. Flowers are always a way to lift a feeling in our home, making space for inspiration. Last Sunday I got some beautiful flowers and arranged them in vases, note the beautiful orange velvet pumpkin, isn’t it cute!

4. This year I’ve done something rather different. While flowers are a favourite way to create any feeling, I don’t have flowers in every room of the house, and instead of trying to find and buy some pictures that could hang around I went to my treasury box at home to find something. I used to do ribbon embroidery and although I don’t have some of it, I keep some copies, anyway, I found some perfect designs for what I want and love it ” forgive when I use descriptions praising my own work with my ribbon embroidery, fair truth be said, they are good! I love them!” … what do you think?

5. Of course I couldn’t miss the throw in the basket next the fireplace, needed to find a new one. This time I was lucky to find it in a really good sale, there were only a few wool throws left and I got the one for our living room, it’s thick, soft and warm, so cosy.

6. Then a very simple detail was to get a new tablecloth for the heart of the house: the kitchen, I was looking for one in any earth colour or cream, I had told my husband and, when he brought the flowers also got this lovely country style tablecloth which is exactly what I had in mind and wanted!

7. Another thing was just put some bee wax candles around ready to be lighten up any time, which by the way are in colour yellow because they are pure bee wax, in fact one has a cute little bee so lovely detailed. They are from the Scottish Bee Company; they have a lovely range of options https://www.scottishbeecompany.co.uk/ while you are not bringing any toxic element into the environment of your home which is what I was looking for, their candles look so charming, and that is a big plus.

8. Also, we changed the rug and runner for the entrance door.

9. Essential oils aromatherapy is healthy as help to relax and focus, and their fragrance is so enjoyable and distinguish with aromas like orange, cinnamon, also we love Frankenstein or myrrh, just make sure the essential oils are pure not synthetic as can be toxic, get organic ones and pure.

10. Touches in textures and colours bringing the warm duvet cover sets, cushions, and curtains.

If you notice, I didn’t even mention of any pumpkin in the entrance as many people do, however the feeling of Autumn certainly is at my home. I do believe the touches, the details, are the ones that give a obvious but subtle way to decorate creating a feeling of Autumn in your home.

Hope these ideas can be useful and inspiring for you too.
